After the last visit to Labuan, I found that there are so many changes to the island. I am amazed to see their beaches are clean & well kept. There are plenty of recreational facilities eateries on the beach. It is definitely an ideal place for divers, snorkeling & swimming.
There are facilities for campers, children playgrounds too. An ideal place for an away weekend place with the family.

Labuan is an excellent stopover when traveling between Kota Kinabalu and Brunei or vice versa. It's a duty-free zone and the shopping is wonderful and cheaper too. The people are friendly, and the town area is great for walking and eating at the various local restaurants. The alcohol and chocolates from the duty-free shops are plentiful. I was there only 1 day/night but should have stayed longer to explore the beaches and other places of interest.

Labuan is a very nice place to get away.
Labuan is a very nice place to get away. It is not the most luxurious holiday but was amongst the most relaxing holidays I have had in a while. There is not much to see in Labuan but there is lots of food and shopping. Without the pressure of a tourist to cover 200 sight seeing spots you actually relax and have a nice time going around the town. The length of stay is just right with 2 nights and 3 days. We had the whole villa to ourselves with supermarkets nearby. We cooked food once a day and enjoyed brunch with our family.
We would then go around the city and end the evening with shopping spree at the financial district mall. All things are extremely cheap compared to Brunei. Overall perfect weekend getaway if you are in this region.

Most shop might close earlier.
Most shop might close earlier. There is a diving spots as well and duty free shops all around. Labuan is not a big island therefore you can finish touring the island in one day. There is also a lot of hotels with nice beach view. Do check them out.

This island is not for backpackers. Lodging is expensive.
This island is not for backpackers. Lodging is expensive. I don't like that every price is divided between Malaysian and international. Traveling solo meant I couldn't take part in most tours as you need 2 people to go. And unfortunately no one else booked tours so I could not go. There is not much to do during the day. 4 days is way to much to explore the island. The night market has good food. Alcohol is cheap here. The island is duty free. The city is so small you won't even break a sweat walking from one end to the other. Rather go to kota Kinabalu for your money's worth.
